José Ramón del Caño Palop is appointed President of March A.M. in 2003, after holding relevant responsibilities in different institutions in the financial sector. He has been Secretary of the Board and Director of the Legal Services of the National Securities Market Commission and the Bank of Spain, and has also participated as a member of various working groups of the European Commission and the European Central Bank. In addition, he is currently developing functions as Director and Secretary of the Board of Corporación Financiera Alba, SA and its Committees, and he is a member of the Board of Directors of several companies of Grupo March
José Ramón graduated from Universidad Complutense de Madrid with a Law degree, and he is State Attorney (on leave).
José María Ortega has been Managing Director and board member of March A.M., as well as member of Banca March’s Executive Committee, since December 2016. He has extensive experience in asset management and private banking. Prior to joining March A.M., he was Head of Private Banking at Credit Suisse (Geneva) for eight years, where he first took care of Latin American and Southern European investors and then was responsible for Spanish clients. Before that, he was Head of Private Banking for Southern Europe at Merrill Lynch. He created the Spanish branch of Credit Suisse asset management firm, where he was board member and Managing Director for 10 years, as well as CIO of the bank. He previously held the role of Head of Equities at both Banesto Fondos and Santander Asset Management, and earned a number of Salmón awards for equity fund returns from the financial daily Expansión. He started out as an equity research analyst at Banco Natwest March.
José María Ortega graduated in Economic Sciences from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He holds an MBA from IE Business School, a Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership from INSEAD and was equity portfolio management teacher at IE Business School.
Chief Investment Officer
Carlos began his professional career at Midland Bank Gestión (now HSBC) and then later joined Banco Banif. In 2000 he joined March A.M. as Head of Equities, progressing to Deputy Investment Officer before becoming Chief Investment Officer in 2007. Later adding to his functions Deputy Investment Officer. In 2007 he was appointed Chief Investment Officer.
Carlos is a graduate in Business Administration from the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, with a Master degree in Financial Markets from the Carlos V International Centre at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He has received numerous awards from agencies such as Lipper and S&P.
Head of Sales
Before joining March AM as Head of Sales in January 2015 he was responsible for Allfunds Bank’s investment services operations in Latin America since 2012. With more than 13 years industry experience Parages began his career in the Equity Distribution Desk of Banco Urquijo, a leading Private Bank, before moving to AXA Investments as Financial Advisor. He then worked in the UK at firms such as BlueCrest Capital Management in its Sales team, and BSN Capital Partners. Lorenzo has an MBA from the IE Business School. He graduated from IEB in law and a Master in Financial Markets.
Head of Compliance and Risk Management
She began her professional career as an auditor and consultant at Arthur Andersen (now Deloitte), specializing in the area of Capital Markets in Financial Sector, where she was in charge of the audit of the main Spanish Asset Management firms. Additionally, she performed the functional development of a software for automating audits of Asset Management firms nationwide. In 2007 she joined March A.M. as Head of the Compliance and Risk Management department. Moreover, she performs follow-up work of the Middle-Office Department and its interface with other areas of the firm.
Marisa holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from CUNEF.
Head of Administration
Before starting his career as Head of Administration in March AM, in 2000, Montserrat was auditor in Gesem Auditors SL and later Operational Audit Cia SL in 1992. He joined the Santander Group in 1993 as controller of BSN SGIIC Management and later became Head of Administration. He has been Head of Administration at BSN Management SGIIC, Santander SGIIC Management and Supervision Director of Santander Asset Management SGIIC, with over 20 years of experience in this industry.
Montserrat has a degree in Economics and Business Studies, specializing in Auditing and Accounting, from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
Head of Information Technology
After working on several R & D projects between Telefonica and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, he began his career in the Juan March Institute of Studies and Research. In 2001 he joined Corporación Financiera Alba and the March A.M. project as IT Director. At that time he took over the responsibility of coordinating both the IT team at March A.M. and the IT teams of other March Group´s companies.
Diego has a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the E.T.S. and Telecommunications Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He also holds several IT certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, Novell).
Head of Project Development
He joined March A.M. in June 2015 as Head of the Project Development Department. He previously collaborated with Indra (consultancy) for 15 years as head of .Net Architectures, projects and teams of experts in this technology.
Pedro is a Telecommunications Engineer specialized in Telematics from the School of Engineering and Telecommunication Systems of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He has 18 years of experience in the field of Information Technology, being specialized in Microsoft technology and agile development methodologies.
Head of Fixed Income
Francisco began his professional career at FECSA with diverse responsibilities as an engineer, having graduated from the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña. In 1989 he joined the mutual and pension fund division at Citibank Spain as Head of Money Markets and Fixed Income, including derivatives. He led several projects related to the dealing and reporting systems of the Spanish and Greek divisions of Citibank.
In 2000, he joined March A.M. starting as Head of Fixed Income, responsible for all derivative, money market and short term fixed income investments.
Fixed Income Portfolio Manager
Marta joined March A.M. in 2008 as part of the Multi Asset team, and then moved to the Fixed Income Department. She began her professional career at Deloitte as audit assistant in the Financial Services department, being part of BBVA’s permanent staff.
Marta graduated in Law and Business Administration from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Icade, and holds a Master degree in International Affairs from Georgetown University & Icade.
Head of Global Equities
Javier is an Economics Graduate from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, a Certified European Financial Analyst and a Graduate of Value Investing and Search for Value from the Ivey Business School in Toronto (Canada). He began his professional career in the commercial department of Crédit Lyonnais and later joined Banco Banif where he was responsible for Global Equity trading.
In 2000 he joined March A.M. as Head of Global Equity. Javier has been ranked as a AA portfolio manager by Citywire and the best Spanish Global Equity fund manager by the investment journal Inversión.
Head of European and Spanish Equities
Antonio is a European and Spanish equity portfolio manager. Before joining March A.M., Antonio worked for Exane BNP Paribas as Director of Spanish MidCaps. He began his professional career at Beta Capital SVB – Fortis Bank España covering the infrastructure and cyclical sectors, later becoming Head of Research and in charge of the Spanish utilities sector.
Antonio has an MBA from the IESE-Universidad de Navarra and an Economics and Business Graduate from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. He has also completed various additional postgraduate courses, such as Company Valuation at the Harvard Business School and Value Investing at Columbia Business School and is a Graduate on Value Investing and Search for Value from the Ivey Business School in Toronto (Canada).
Institutional Sicav Co-Manager
Juan Carlos began his career at Arthur Andersen Corporate Finance and Argentaria´s (Banco Exterior de España y Banco de Crédito Local) financing Analysis department. He moved to Ahorro Corporación as an Stock Exchange investment analyst, leading the technology, media and telecommunications team, and then becoming Head of European Equities Fund Management. Before joining March A.M., he has also worked for the British asset management firm Threadneedle Investments, engaged in Institutional Sales in Iberia and Latam.
Juan Carlos graduated in Law and Business Administration from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE E-3).
Institutional SICAV Co-Manager
Juan is an Economics graduate from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. He began his professional career in 1989 as an auditor and consultant at Arthur Andersen. In 1994 he joined AB Asesores as an analyst in charge of the Spanish and European financial sector, receiving various awards from specialist international magazines such as Euro money and Institutional Investor. In 1999 he became a Partner and Director of Equity Analysis at Fortis Bank España, where he had both local and international responsibilities.
In 2003, he was appointed the Head of the Alfredo Lafita Family Office and in 2006 became a Board member of Banco Madrid Asset Management before joining joined March A.M. to manage the group’s institutional Sicav (Torrenova, Bellver and Lluc).
Juan was Associate Professor at the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid between 2003 and 2011.
Head of Multi-Asset Department
Santiago joined March A.M. in 2007 as Head of the Multiasset unit. He is responsible for the selection of Third Party funds and manages the Fund of Fund products. Prior to his actual role, he worked at Gesmadrid first as a quantitative specialist and then assumed responsibility for alternative investments and fund of funds, where he developed and launched the first fund of fund in Spain.
Santiago is a graduate in Mathematics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
Pedro began his career at UBS Wealth Management, Madrid, in the funds analysis and selection department. He then joined March A.M. in October 2014.
Peter has a degree in Business Administration and Management from CUNEF. He passed Level III of the CFA examination in 2017 and has accomplished a Corporate Finance program at Columbia University.
